Back in 2019, Skillibeng made huge waves with the infectious single “Brik Pan Brik,” as well as the nine-track Prodigy EP — essentially stamping him as one of the next dancehall artists to look out for. Last year, he kept that momentum going with the full-length release The Prodigy, a 13-track tour de force that saw additional assists from Jakal, Dre Island, Popcaan, and Tommy Lee Sparta. Since then, the St. Thomas artist delivered a slew of dope cuts to his fans, including “Coke,” “Thy Will,” “Energy,” “2Gyal,” “Blow Up” with Shatta Wale,” “Yo!,” “One Way,” and “Cough.”
This week, he teams with up hip hop stars Rich The Kid and Jay Critch for “Real Boss,” an Aalvero-produced offering that’s said to be taken from Skillibeng’s forthcoming Ladies Only mixtape. The track sees the trio rapping and toasting about money, women, and more:
“Fuck me like I’m a real boss, bought a Forgi’, my wheel cost, top shotta get you knocked off, fuck around, knock your block off, two girls come, tap me out, hundred racks, I fucked that up/
Maybach gon’ drop me off, just a million dollars in the loft, yeah, pull up the big mansion with the shottas, she was a chicken head, I told her, ‘Gobble,’ ride in the backseat with the chopper, I’m smoking up the pound like the rasta/”
The accompanying clip for “Real Boss” takes us to the east side of Jamaica, as Skillibeng and his collaborators live life like the successful men that they are — smoking ganja, riding around in luxury cars, showing off high-end properties, and popping bottles with beautiful women. The clip definitely gives off FOMO vibes for all still stuck in some variation of the still-active quarantine.
