G Perico continues to keep his fans fed with high-quality tunes. For his latest, he teams up with produced Steelz for “So Sweet,” a sampled-cut that’s perfect for the South Central emcee’s subject matter:
“Leanin’ on a midnight plane, from Georgia, hit Cali then Florida, drinkin’ champagne, Cartier frames and a gold chain … zoomin’ lane to lane at er’y light, throw the gang out the T-top/
Miss me, baby I don’t let these hoes kiss me, don’t scratch on my back or try to put no hicky, if you hot, call me, we can dip, you worked out everyday, you the shit, I read books, tote guns, and I meditate…/”
“So Sweet” follows the projects Free, Welcome To The Land, and Lover Boy Slim, which saw collaborations alongside Garren and Narissa. Perico could also be heard on loose cuts like the Rucci-assisted “Keep Killin” and the 1TakeJay-assisted “Pull It.” His last official album, the Roc Nation-backed Ten-Eight, was released in 2019 and saw 11 cuts with additional features from Sonny Digital, Az Chike, Bucho, and more. The equally notable works of art 2 Tha Left and Guess What? were liberated in 2017 and 2018, respectively.
During a past interview on REVOLT’s “Unlocked” series, Perico spoke on repping Los Angeles to the fullest with his sound:
“All the great artists are unapologetically where they from. Like Drake is unapologetically Toronto. Future and Migos, unapologetically Atlanta. JAY-Z, unapologetically Brooklyn. E-40, unapologetically Vallejo, Bay Area. … It’s only right. Everybody that try to jump on … where they go? They might get a hit, one hit song, and be poppin’ and then it’s gone.”
