Before 2021 arrived, rap giants E-40 and Too $hort joined forces for both a legendary “Verzuz” battle, delivering some of their greatest hits from the past few decades. In addition to the Bay area showdown, the veteran artists also joined forces for the double album Ain’t Gone Do It/Terms & Conditions, which saw 20 tracks and a slew of notable features from the likes of Guapdad 4000, Mistah F.A.B., Drakeo The Ruler, G-Eazy, Brent Faiyaz, Freddie Gibbs, and Larry June.
This week, E-40 moves forward with a new cut of his own titled “I Stand On That,” which sees assists from T.I. and Joyner Lucas, all of whom deliver some of their hardest bars to date:
“Play with my feelings and you gon’ catch feelings, your people gon’ feel it, I ran with the villains, was wheelin’ and dealin’, I’m worth a few million, I’m chasing a billion, I’m up like a ceiling, I’m really a real one/
A badger, a beast from the soil, and you can get popped like a boil, bitch boy, you gon’ leak like some oil/”
The aforementioned clip is directed by Jae Synth and begins with a shot of Traxamillion — the song’s producer — and a woman playing the flute. We then see Joyner Lucas, E-40, and T.I. socially distancing in completely different rooms, all with the same ingredients — a top quality lowrider and a couple of beautiful women nearby.
In addition to his joint effort with Too $hort, last year also saw 40 Water liberating the first two installments of his Curb Commentator EP series, which altogether contained 10 cuts and contributions from Wiz Khalifa, Suga Free, cousin and The Click cohort B-Legit, and more. Given his output over the past several years, one can expect plenty more to arrive from E-40 soon.
