Back in October, Ty Dolla $ign released his third studio album Featuring Ty Dolla $ign, a cleverly-named body of work that saw a healthy 25 cuts and an even healthier set of contributions from Kanye West, 6LACK, Gunna, Future, Young Thug, Kehlani, Jhené Aiko, Mustard, Roddy Ricch, Big Sean, Nicki Minaj, Kid Cudi, and more. The project became Ty Dolla $ign’s first top-ten debut, landing at the number four spot on the Billboard 200 thanks to 44,000 album equivalent units sold during its first week of release.
Over the weekend, the Los Angeles crooner-producer decided to upgrade the album standout “Spicy,” which originally featured a single assist from Post Malone. Now, Colombian star J Balvin, as well as fellow west coasters YG and Tyga, join in on the Ty$, Westen Weiss, and damn james!-produced effort — making for an even more adults-only affair in multiple languages:
“Ayy, shawty wanna go, she slidin’, shawty wanna go ‘cause I’m him, shawty got a man, but the dick weak, she gon’ hit me up when she miss me, dale, dale, dale, no pierdas sentido, she a big freak, yeah…/”
In addition to his solo work, last year saw Ty Dolla $ign providing his highly requested assistance on other records like SZA’s “Hit Different,” Yo Gotti’s “Like That,” Jadakiss’ “NYB,” Eminem’s “Favorite Bitch,” 2 Chainz’s “Can’t Go For That,” Ariana Grande’s “Safety Net,” and countless others. More recently, he contributed to Tiësto’s “The Business Part II.”
A true musician, Ty Dolla $ign was also recently seen in a rehearsal studio with his band, handling guitar duties while playing Nirvana’s Nevermind classic “Smells Like Teen Spirit.” A couple of years ago, he revealed to Spin that “Smells Like Teen Spirit” was the first time he ever loved the genre, and even has a tattoo of Kurt Cobain to match.
