Earlier this week, Ty Dolla $ign revealed that he would be naming his forthcoming album Featuring Ty Dolla $ign, an apparent change from the previous title Dream House. Today, the California star unveils another single from the project titled “By Yourself,” which features additional assistance from frequent collaborators Jhené Aiko and DJ Mustard. Produced by Mustard, GYLTTRYP, and Phil Scully, the Changing Faces-sampled track is an ode to all of the independent women making moves:
“Well is you single, where my single ladies? Stacked your bread and bought your own Mercedes, you your own boss, do it your way, quick to tell a broke n***a, “Go away”/
You ain’t never ‘bout no drama, you ain’t prеssed, you want biggеr things and better things, put that work in, stay on your job, you don’t break a sweat, in the mirror takin’ pics ‘cause you know you the s***/
Girl, you ain’t never ‘fraid to be by yourself…/”
“By Yourself” is preceded by the 2020 drops “Ego Death” with Kanye West, FKA twigs, and Skrillex and “Expensive” with Nicki Minaj, two tracks that are also expected to land on Featuring Ty Dolla $ign, as well as the socially-charged number “You See It” with Skrillex, Ant Clemons, Virtual Riot, and Nia Miranda. Last year also saw loose cuts like “Purple Emoji” with J. Cole, “Hottest In The City,” and the Skrillex and Boys Noize-assisted “Midnight Hour.” At this point, it wouldn’t be surprising to see a Ty$ and Skrillex EP sometime in the near future.
This year has also seen Ty Dolla $ign prove just why he named his third studio LP what it is, given his countless contributions to tracks by the likes of TM88, Brandy, SZA, Murda Beatz, Thundercat, and dvsn.
Enjoy “By Yourself” below. Featuring Ty Dolla $ign drops October 23.
