Last November, NLE Choppa dropped off his latest body of work From Dark To Light, which saw 13 tracks that all signified a change in pace for a young artist that previously spoke on more negative subject matter. Today, the Memphis prodigy unveils a new visual from the project for “Moonlight,” which features Big Sean and keeps the focus on their respective grinds:
“Thug nigga, we trappin’ in the moonlight, we get the bag gone the same day, the same night, don’t talk on tapped phones, you know the feds run devices, my mom my backbone, she stood by me wrong or right/
Let me rewind this shit, gotta rewind that lick, I lost ‘bout ten on that shit, I gotta go and get it back, got ‘bout forty on my wrist, I got ‘bout two hoes on my dick, I know she seen me when I glisten, now shе wanna take a pic…/”
Directed by Ronnie Camilo, the accompanying clip begins by looking like something straight out of a Halloween special, as NLE Choppa can be seen in a haunted house of sorts rapping around floating objects and a crystal ball. Meanwhile, Big Sean raps his verse from both the moon and some kind of smoke-filled void as Choppa dances nearby.
In addition to From Dark To Light, last year also saw NLE Choppa liberating his debut LP Top Shotta, which contained 20 cuts and additional assists from Mulatto, Roddy Ricch, Chief Keef, and Lil Baby. That project landed NLE Choppa in the top of the Billboard 200 thanks to 36,000 album equivalent units sold during its first week of release. In addition to his own work, Choppa also contributed to Polo G’s “Go Stupid,” Blueface’s “Holy Moly” and “Tour,” BlocBoy JB’s “ChopBloc, Pt. 3,” Juicy J’s “Load It Up,” and — most recently — 50 Cent’s “Part Of The Game.”
