Just before the pandemic shut the world down, hip hop lost a true star with Pop Smoke, who was tragically killed in Los Angeles. Months later, his team would liberate his debut album Shoot for the Stars Aim for the Moon, which boasted 19 tracks and a slew of features from 50 Cent, Quavo, Lil Baby, DaBaby, Swae Lee, Future, Roddy Ricch, Lil Tjay, and more. The project proved to be hugely successful, landing at number one on the Billboard 200 thanks to 251,000 album equivalent units sold — making Pop Smoke the first artist to have a posthumous debut top the charts. A deluxe edition of Shoot for the Stars Aim for the Moon soon followed, adding on 15 cuts and new assists from the likes of Fivio Foreign, Davido, Burna Boy, Queen Naija, and Jamie Foxx.
This week, fans are able to see a new visual from said project for “What You Know About Love,” which is produced by IamTash and sees Pop Smoke putting his heart on his sleeve for his significant other:
“Shawty go jogging every morning, and she make me breakfast almost every morning, and she take a naked pic before she leave the door, I be waking up to pics before a n***a yawning/
And every weekend my shawty comin’ over, shawty could Fendi out but she like Fashion Nova, she ain’t driving no Camry she pullin’ in a Rover, with her hair so curly, I love you, baby…/”
The visual is directed by Oliver Cannon and is compiled with footage of Pop Smoke behind the scenes, interacting with fans, on stage, and more. Some social media and in-studio footage also shows him performing the heartfelt track, adding to the bittersweet nature of the clip.
