Nine months after releasing his widely praised Eternal Atake album, Lil Uzi Vert is preparing for his next project. The 26-year-old hopped on Instagram Live over the weekend to share a huge batch of unreleased music with fans and confirmed that his next effort will be a SoundCloud-era mixtape.
“… When I drop my SoundCloud tape, it’s gonna have all SoundCloud vibes on there,” he said before playing a new song. “Like, bops. Like, SoundCloud bops.”
Elsewhere during the IG Live session, Uzi also gave fans more clues about his next studio album. Back in May, the Philadelphia native said the record was “coming soon” and promised it would sound like “old Uzi music.”
“So, totally, I’m coming out with an album very soon,” he said on Live. “It’s gonna be a gift from me to you. I’m coming out with an album and it’s gonna be really good and classic. Yeah, so, Uzi London.”
“… It’s gonna be a really great one. It’s gonna be one that you never ever get tired of,” he continued jokingly. “It’s gonna be like that, you know, that sound; I stepped away from that sound.”
The rapper also spoke about his sophomore studio album Eternal Atake, which he said was made during “the experimental time of Uzi,” adding, “Y’all motherfuckers didn’t want that!”
After releasing Eternal Atake in March, Uzi followed up the effort one week later with his Eternal Atake (Deluxe) — LUV vs. The World. The two-sided extended version saw features from Chief Keef, 21 Savage, Future, Young Thug, Gunna, Lil Durk and more.
Last month, Uzi and Future also released their joint project, Pluto x Baby Pluto, which was recently followed up by a 24-track deluxe version.
