A suspect has been arrested in connection with Mo3’s death. According to the Dallas Morning News, Kewon Dontrell White was taken into federal custody on Tuesday (Dec. 8) and is facing charges of murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. The 21-year-old suspect’s bond has not been set yet, but is expected to be announced at a later time.
Mo3 was shot and killed in Dallas, Texas on Nov. 11. At the time, the burgeoning rapper had been driving north on the I-35E. According to authorities, suspected gunman White had also been traveling on the interstate when he got out of his car and approached Mo3’s vehicle. Mo3 also got out of his car, and White allegedly chased him on foot, firing multiple shots.
Mo3 was struck by the bullets and rushed to a nearby to a hospital where he passed away. An innocent bystander was also shot during the incident and sustained non life-threatening injuries. Police say the assailant then got back into his car and drove away. At the time, White was free on bond for unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon and evading arrest charges.
KTVT reports that a witness to the shooting contacted police during their investigation, leading to White’s arrest. Police released photos of the suspected gunman back in November, which showed a man wearing a ski mask.
According to authorities, a motive for the shooting has not yet been established and police do not know how Mo3 and White knew each other.
“I watched him rise as a star, from a regular kid [who was] basically homeless when I met him, to a person with power and enough revenue to support his family,” Mo3’s manager, Brandon Rainwater, CBS 11 after his death. Mo3 was 28 years old.
