Last year, Robert Glasper dropped an album titled Fuck Yo Feelings, which boasted 19 tracks and additional features from Yasiin Bey, Cordae, Rapsody, SiR, Herbie Hancock, Bilal, and more. Reaching back to that well-received release, the musician-producer unveils a new visual for the track “This Changes Everything,” which originally saw assists from Buddy, Denzel Curry, Terrace Martin, and James Poyser, as well as a wealth of lyrical flips utilizing the song’s title:
“This changes everything, divorce to wedding ring, from sober to ‘phetamines, from hungry to feta cheese, you give up anything, that changes everything, bikes for Eversten, treat it like whatever thing/
It’s a now or never thing, regarding living life, besides, we in a circle from what “Lion King” writes…/”
The accompanying music video is directed by Laura Wasser and takes place in Los Angeles’ Leimert Park, with Denzel Curry, Robert Glasper and a backing band performing the track. Unfortunately, Buddy, Terrace Martin, or James Poyser make an appearance in the clip.
This past February, Robert Glasper released a jazz soundtrack to the romantic film The Photograph, which starred Issa Rae and Lakeith Stanfield — the project also saw contributions from Erykah Badu, James Poyser, Lucky Daye, and H.E.R. More recently, he teamed up with Martin, 9th Wonder, and Kamasi Washington to create the supergroup Dinner Party, releasing both a self-titled EP in July. Months later, the collective followed that with Dinner Party: Dessert, which saw a slew of contributions from Snoop Dogg, Reuben Vincent, Punch, Phoelix, Alex Isley, and more.
