As REVOLT reported yesterday (Nov. 28), Bay Area rapper Lil Yase passed away at the age of 25. However, it’s since been confirmed that he was shot dead. But, the circumstances surrounding his killing are extremely mysterious.
“We appreciate all the love and support. Yase loved his fans, he worked every day for y’all. We have hundreds of songs coming for you,” the late artist’ label, Highway 420 Productions, captioned an IG post that confirmed Yase’s passing. “Please repost and share let the world know who the ‘Top Dog’ is @yasemoney600 @yasemoney600.”
Now, news outlets such as TMZ are reporting that his body was found somewhere in the southern section of the East Bay, which isn’t close to where Yase was last seen. How he got there? No one knows.
“Our sources tell us Yase was hanging out with his crew late Friday night at a recording studio in Marin County — slightly north of San Francisco — and left on his own at one point around 11:30 or midnight, telling his buddies he’d be right back,” the outlet claims.
“We’re told no more than an hour and a half later, word came in that Yase had been shot dead somewhere in the East Bay — which is damn near an hour away by freeway, depending on what part of town you head to down there.”
TMZ also adds that Yase’s friends and other members of his inner circle were completely at a loss for words when they learned this news because he wasn’t known to be beefing with anybody. It continues: “Our sources say Yase might’ve played tough in his music, but in reality … all he was really about was rapping, promoting his label (Highway 420 Productions) and labelmates, and gaming. That’s it.”
Since news of his passing, Yase fans on social media have left countless tributes for the fallen rapper.
We’re sure to know more details about his mysterious death as developments arise.
