Last month, WizKid unveiled his fourth studio LP Made In Lagos, which boasts 14 tracks and appearances from Skepta, Damian Marley, H.E.R., Ella Mai, Tems, and more. Today, fans get to check out an “official dance video” for the album standout “Ginger,” his collaboration with Burna Boy that sees production from P2J. The track is perfect for a dance between lovers, sung in a mix of English, Yoruba and Pidgin:
“We go dey, we go dey, We go dey nice, if we enter the place I go dey nice, I go freaky freaky freaky, I go rewind, say na me go be the DJ/
Omo feel nice ooo, say my party no dey stop til the daylight, before you run go dey shayo, make you think twice, if na smoke you wan smoke say we dey tight, omo ma lo go, say we live nice…/”
The dance video in question shows some sultry moves from New York-born Nigerian afrobeats choreographer Izzy Odigie, who rises from a throne of sorts and matches the vibes of the song perfectly. The end of the clip shows her returning to her seat, satisfied with the performance received by us viewers.
“Ginger” follows previously released videos for “Smile” and “No Stress,” both of which are also taken from Made In Lagos. Given how long fans have awaited the new album, WizKid also spent the last couple of years releasing other loose singles like “Energy (Stay Far Away),” “Fever,” “Soco,” “Joro,” and “Escape” with Akon. His collaborator has been busy as well — Burna worked with the likes of Diddy to create his fifth studio LP Twice As Tall, which was released back in August and saw genre-bending cuts alongside Stormzy, Chris Martin, Youssou N’Dour, Sauti Sol, and Naughty by Nature.
