Tonight (October 16), Boy Better Know emcee Frisco will release his third official studio LP The Familiar Stranger, which will see 15 tracks and features from the likes of Ghetts, D Double E, Novelist, Devlin, and Boy Better Know family Skepta, Jammer, Jme, and Shorty. Following singles like “Colours”, “Black Man,” and “Cool Nuh,” the British star reveals another titled “Karma,” which sees an assist from Skengdo with production from TSB. The drill cut sees the collaborators rapping about their respective wins in the face of their adversaries:
“I was in the field from long time, black wooly hat with a black parka, try down diss me or miss me, I will come back around like karma/
They say every ladies man, grows up and then has a daughter, I’ll just call that a blessing, some would say that’s karma…/”
The accompanying visual comes courtesy of Reece Selvadorai and keeps things simple, with Frisco and Skengdo rapping their verses in a single room with lighting changes for versatility. The clip allows the bars to remain at center stage, which is important given how top tier the lyricists are.
In addition to his contributions as part of Boy Better Know, Frisco released the two albums Fully Grown and System Killer in 2010 and 2016, respectively. He’s also released equally dope projects in that time frame, including British Nights and the Back 2 Da Lab series.
