Today marks a historic moment in the grime world, as Ghetts and Skepta have finally collaborated on an official single together. The track is titled “IC3,” and sees the London emcees trading some of their best bars to date over dark, creeping production courtesy of TenBillion Dreams:

“Who would have thought back then we’d be some powerful black men, back when, we was in estates I was trapped in, trapping, y’all know how it’s impacted us, can’t block a n***a when flats are us/

Abandoned flats where the mandem trap, I took a few L’s in my Champion hat, came back like a champion and landed jabs while being branded black…/”

“IC3” follows Ghetts’ summer drop “Mozambique,” which features Jaykae and Moonchild Sanelly. The recent tunes show that the man formerly known as Ghetto is still in top form, and can only mean that a new album isn’t too far into the future.

Ghetts’ last body of work was the 2018 sophomore LP Ghetto Gospel: The New Testament, which saw 17 tracks and assists from Kojey Radical, President T, Wretch 32, Donae’O, Little Simz, Stefflon Don, and much more. That project also acted as the sequel to 2007’s Ghetto Gospel, a 21-track masterpiece considered by many to be one of the best projects in grime and UK rap history. While he’s been delivering classic projects since 2005’s 2000 & Life, his official debut, Rebel With A Cause, didn’t make landfall until 2014.

Skepta has been keeping busy as well. Most recently, he teamed up with Chip and Young Adz to create the collaborative album Insomnia, which earned the artists a top three spot on the UK Albums chart. The Boy Better Know general’s last solo effort was last year’s Silver-certified release Ignorance Is Bliss.
