After her viral hit “Savage (Remix)” secured the No. 1 spot on the charts, Megan Thee Stallion opened up about how she secured the coveted feature from Beyoncé.
In a recent virtual interview with “Entertainment Tonight,” the 25-year-old explained that she received a text from someone on her team about Beyoncé wanting to do the remix. After hearing the final track, Megan thanked JAY-Z, who she is signed to underneath Roc Nation. “After I heard the song, I texted JAY-Z like five times like, ‘Oh my God, thank you, thank you, thank you,’” she said while smiling.
She added, “And then Beyoncé texted me the next day. I was like, ‘Oh my God, Beyoncé got my number.’ She texted me two, three times the next day and the day after that. I’m like, ‘Girl, I’m friends with Beyoncé.’”
As REVOLT readers might recall, Megan shared a photo of the flowers she received from the Lemonade singer earlier this month. The thoughtful gift was in celebration of their hit securing the No. 1 spot on the Hot 100 chart at the time.
This isn’t the first time that Megan has discussed her excitement regarding a feature from Beyoncé. Shortly after the song’s debut, Megan hopped on Instagram Live to further talk about the song’s success.
“It’s really crazy ‘cause like, my mama was like a really huge fan of like Beyoncé and she used to make me watch a lot of Beyoncé stuff,” Megan revealed. “And it’s like, when I met her I was like, ‘Oh my God.’ And I ain’t wanna be like, ‘Oh my God, Beyoncé, me and my mama love you.’”
She continued, “This sh*t is crazy — And it’s just like, for Beyoncé to even do a song with me — I really only been out for like two years. This is the beginning of year number two. Like, Beyoncé? It’s really crazy.”
