Megan Thee Stallion scored her first No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 this week with her Beyoncé-assisted “Savage (Remix).” To make the victory even sweeter, the Houston Hottie revealed that she received a congratulatory bouquet from Bey herself.
“We did that,” Megan wrote on her Instagram Story on Tuesday (May 26), along with a video of the flowers. “Thank you queen [Beyoncé].”
“Savage (Remix)” shot up from fifth to first place on the Hot 100 chart, as well as peaking at No. 1 on the Digital Song Sales chart. On Tuesday (May 26), Megan also revealed that the track had hit No. 1 on the Urban and Rhythmic Radio chart.
“Hotties we’re number 1 on billboard and number 1 at urban and rhythmic radio. thank y’all,” she wrote on Instagram. “We did this sh*t together. Shout out to everyone who’s been going hard for these wins.”
“Savage” initially appeared on Megan’s Suga EP from earlier this year. The nine-track offering included collaborations with Gunna on “Stop Playing” and Kehlani on “Hit My Phone,” as well as hits “Captain Hook” and “B.I.T.C.H.”
Taking to Instagram Live after releasing the Bey-assisted “Savage (Remix),” Megan explained how much the collaboration meant to her.
“It’s really crazy ‘cause like, my mama was like a really huge fan of like Beyoncé and she used to make me watch a lot of Beyoncé stuff,” she said on Live. “And it’s like, when I met her I was like, ‘Oh my God.’ And I ain’t wanna be like, ‘Oh my God Beyoncé me and my mama love you.’”
“This sh*t is crazy — And it’s just like, for Beyoncé to even do a song with me — I really only been out for like two years,” Megan continued. “This is the beginning of year number two. Like, Beyoncé? It’s really crazy.”
