This week, DaBaby and Ashanti’s “Nasty” collaboration debuted at No. 50 on the Billboard Hot 100, earning an impressive feat for the “Foolish” singer. According to Chart Data, the track’s entry into the Hot 100 means that Ashanti has now had a Hot 100 entry in each decade — the 2000’s, 2010’s and 2020’s. She landed her first Hot 100 chart entry in 2002 with “Down 4 U,” featuring Ja Rule, Charlie Baltimore and Vita, which peaked at No. 6.
Ashanti announced the good news in an Instagram post on Tuesday (April 28), sharing Chart Data’s tweet and a heart emoji. “Nasty” also features Megan Thee Stallion and landed on DaBaby’s recent Blame It On Baby LP.
During an appearance on “Sway’s Universe,” DaBaby said he felt like a “legend” when Ashanti sent him her “Nasty” verse.
“What’s a line that Megan said in [‘Nasty’] that threw you off? That caught you off guard?” Sway had asked the Charlotte-bred rapper.
“She said a few of them,” DaBaby replied. “But when Ashanti came and threw the ‘threesome’ line in there, I’m like, ‘Lord.’ I said, ‘Lord, I’ma legend.’ Can’t nobody tell me sh*t.”
In other Ashanti news, the famed R&B songstress recently donated breakfasts and 30,000 protective masks to the Glen Cove Hospital in her Long Island, NY hometown. According to News Day, Ashanti’s donation provided morning meals for both healthcare professionals who work overnight shifts and those who work very early hospital shifts and don’t always have enough time to eat breakfast.
“It makes my day to be able to say I was born in this hospital and I will always rep Long Island people who are going through such terrible times,” Ashanti said in a statement. “Honestly, I’ve been looking at the numbers of deaths and hearing the stories about the front-liners and being from Long Island, well sometimes it seems people forget about us.”
Last year, it was announced that Ashanti would join Omarion’s “Millennium 2020 Tour,” along with Bow Wow, Ying Yang Twins, Lloyd, Sammie, Pretty Ricky and Soulja Boy.
