Teddy Riley and Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds have announced their rescheduled Verzuz battle. The highly anticipated Instagram Live showdown between the two music legends is going down tonight (April 20) at 8 pm EST.
“Let’s get back to the love of music this Monday 8pm!” Riley announced in Instagram on Sunday (April 19).
Babyface also shared the new date, writing, “The Rematch: Monday 8 pm EST/ 5 pm PST.”
Riled and Babyface were initially slated to go head-to-head on the ‘Gram earlier this month. However, the battle was ultimately canceled, in part due to Babyface and his family suffering from the Coronavirus. This past weekend (April 18), the iconic pair were again set to battle it out, but unfortunately suffered major sound and technical issues.
Swizz Beatz and Timbaland — the Verzuz founders — addressed the issues on their own Instagram Live and discussed a possible rescheduling.
“Bare with us, keep your outfits ready…” Swizz said at the time. “Maybe they’ll fix it tonight, maybe they’ll fix it tomorrow. But, we’re gonna come back immediately… Sh*t happens.”
“We’re gonna fix this little glitch, we’re gonna come back, and we’re gonna turn all the way up,” the legendary producer continued.
Babyface also hopped on the ‘Gram to confirm that the battle would be postponed.
“I just wanted to say that tonight was really special and so many people joined in on us that I think that it’s only right that we postpone this thing and do it at a time when there aren’t any technical difficulties and everybody can hear the music the way it needs to be heard,” he explained.
“So, I gracefully would like to say, why don’t we do this at another time and pick up and have a good time later on,” he suggested.
With a new time and date set — let’s hope third time’s a charm! Tune in on Instagram Live tonight (April 20) at 8pm EST to watch it all go down.
