On his 62nd birthday, Babyface came forward to reveal that he and his family tested positive for COVD-19 and are now on the road to recovery.
In an Instagram post, Babyface wrote, “I would like to warmly thank everyone for all the many birthday wishes today. I feel so blessed to be able to celebrate another birthday. I tested positive for the Covid19 virus, as did my family. It’s an incredibly scary thing to go through my friends. I’m happy to report we have now tested negative and are on our way back to full health.”
He then went on to announce the new date for the highly-anticipated VERZUZ battle against Teddy Riley.
He continued, “With that being said… I would like to officially accept the invitation from the legendary Swizz Beatz & Timbaland to participate with my little brother, Teddy Riley in what I’d like to call a Celebration of Black Music Excellence in – Teddy vs. Babyface.”
“So get ready for a night of groove and love. Ladies… put on your red dress…light the candles, pour some wine, and don’t forget to bring your dancing shoes. Teddy!!! Let’s show them what Hip Hop/R&B music really means to the world!”
Riley took to Instagram, shortly after Babyface posted his message, with his own message to the fans.
“First I would like to wish my big brother Babyface a blessed happy birthday and also the celebration of his recovery!” he wrote. “It wasn’t my place to disclose, but I am My Brother’s Keeper & I will be the Fall Guy for my brother any day! It’s an honor saying this, you are my mentor, and big bro for life! And I look forward to us celebrating greatness April 18th on Versus! Please everyone join me in wishing my big brother happy birthday!”
The battle has been scheduled for April 18 at 9 pm ET on Babyface’s official Instagram Live. Happy Birthday, Babyface!
