Fat Joe and Ja Rule are getting into the competitive spirit ahead of next week’s Verzuz. On Thursday (Sept. 9), the “Lean Back” emcee took to Instagram to let Ja know that their forthcoming battle will not be an easy win for the “Put It On Me” star.

“Everybody know you King Kong. Everybody know you got all the hits, but I’ma have to drag you,” Fat Joe warned. “I’m about bring you into the projects, Trinity Ave. Ya’ll must have forgot cuz I ain’t forget. Streets know, streets know…You my brother. I love you, but I’ma have to get you up out that cardigan sweater.”

One day later (Sept. 10), Ja Rule shared a video response in which he insisted that he would also do some dragging during their battle. “Crack, my brother, so you gonna drag me through these streets, huh?” the “Thug Lovin’” star asked.

“I like that, it’s cool. I’m comfortable there. But I’ma drag you on that stage. See, you have to perform them records. Word for word. Bar for bar. I’m gonna make you sweat out that motherfuckin’ Versace, nigga. That Hermes, oh yeah, you gon’ sweat that out.”

The back-and-forth between the two New York rappers comes a week after the announcement of their Verzuz showdown. Then, the date and time of the event were disclosed, but the location was not yet known. On Thursday, however, Swizz Beatz and Timbaland revealed that the battle will take place at Madison Square Garden.

“Live from MSG!!! @fatjoe vs @jarule on Instagram, @triller and @fitetv. If you’re in NYC, come see the show live at MSG @hulutheatermsg,” Swizz tweeted, to which Ja Rule replied, “Ppl acting like they forgot what I do Swizz… Crack my brother and I love him, but he gone get this WORK!!! The Hitman bout to put on for the city.”
