Kanye West’s fans are waiting patiently for his next studio effort Donda to arrive. Although the record has now received two livestreamed listening parties, Kanye has missed all of its alleged drop dates and when the album will actually surface is anybody’s guess.
However, the co-founder and CEO of Twitter has an idea that could speed up Donda’s release. On Sunday (Aug. 8), Jack Dorsey suggested that ‘Ye release Donda now as it is and continue updating it to his liking. The strategy is similar to what Kanye did with his 2016 LP, The Life of Pablo.
“And…this is unlikely and maybe against the creative process…but it would be incredible if [Kanye West] put out Donda as it is now and continued to update it until he feels it’s ‘finished,’” Dorsey wrote on Twitter. “So we can all witness the work evolve in real time.”
Apple Music’s Zane Lowe concurred, commenting, “Pablo. It’s a great thing. Pure process.”
Currently, Donda is expected to arrive later this week. As reported by REVOLT, the album’s pre-order page on iTunes recently updated its official release date from Aug. 7 to this Sunday (Aug. 15). The iTunes page also lists Donda as having 24 tracks, the second of which is called “Hurricane” and features The Weeknd and Lil Baby.
Donda was initially set to drop in July 2020. After a year of setbacks, the record was teased to be dropping last month on July 23 after Ye’s first official listening event at the Mercedes Benz Stadium. When that release date came and went, however, Justin LaBoy claimed the record had been pushed back to Aug. 6.
“Kanye West will move the release date of Donda to August 6th. Thanks for your patience,” he tweeted at the time. “He wants to give his fans the best possible product without rushing anything. He loves yall with all of his heart. God bless.”
