Trae Tha Truth is a man of many titles, but philanthropist and Houston native are most evident in his latest act. Recently, the Texas star got wind of the story of Jaydeen Buckley — a teenage boy who went viral for selling water in an effort to afford school clothes — and was immediately moved to action. With hopes to lend his support, he took to social media and asked his followers to help him find the young boy.
“Get Me A Contact On Lil Homie, Tell Him I Got Him,” Trae wrote on Instagram. “Too Hot for him To Be Out There.”
A little while later, the activist received contact information for Buckley’s mother, Meka Buckley, and a meeting was set. “Found the LiL Man who was sellin water to get school clothes,” wrote Trae. “Bout To Turn Him Up!!”
Per reports, Trae gifted Buckley and family — who is new to the Houston area — with a back-to-school shopping spree before sharing the news on social media. “We Got You Jaydenn…. Welcome To Houston…,” he wrote alongside a photo of him and the Buckleys. “Anotha Day Anotha Blessing.”
Buckley had reportedly been selling water outside of a Houston gas station for three weeks when a Facebook post broadcasted his efforts and desire to get new clothes and a tablet before the start of the school year.
“Please stop by and buy a bottled water or donate to him,” the post read. “He’s a really sweet kid. In a world where so many of our youth choose to rob and steal, he has chosen a different path … Let’s make sure he has everything he needs to be successful this school year.”
Fortunately for the teenage hustler, Trae wasn’t the only one willing to assist him. His mother Meka said that Megan Thee Stallion’s security team picked her son up and took him on his second shopping spree.
