Through his activity alone, Lil Baby has staked his claim as one of the greats of his generation. But now, he’s also issuing it on wax, and he’s invoking the name of a rap legend to do so.

Appearing on EST Gee’s Bigger Than Life or Death track “5500 Degrees,” a song that also includes verses from Gee, 42 Dugg, and Rylo Rodriguez, Lil Baby delivers a standout verse declaring himself the Weezy of this generation with quotable bars.

“Got the finest car, one of a kind, I don’t slow down for much/I got twenty million cash now and still ain’t near enough/I’m goin’ too crazy, I’m the Wayne of this new generation, niggas fugazi/They can’t fuck with us no type of way, these niggas too lazy,” he raps on the track, a standout from Gee’s latest project.

Obviously, millennials and just about anyone else in the know realizes the special space Weezy has occupied as one of the most inventive wordsmiths in hip hop. In addition to his pure rap skills, he’s generally been one of rap’s most productive artists, popping out for a ridiculous stream of guest verses at the peak of his career. Over the last year, Lil Baby has shown a similar level of productivity. He’s also been racking up the critical acclaim and Billboard chart placements.

Last month, Lil Baby released Voice of the Heroes, a joint project he made with Lil Durk. The project debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, making it his second project to do so in just over a year. His last solo album, My Turn, also debuted at the No. 1 spot. Clearly, the name of that project was an apt one.
