DaBaby believes other rappers are scared to work with him because he’s the best emcee out right now.
On Monday (June 7), the Blame It On Baby rapper took to his Instagram Stories to call the other artists out for not wanting to compete with the best. “BEST MF RAPPER & I’m on ALLLAT shit these niggas LIE about,” he wrote. “I’m him frfr. If a nigga ain’t tryna work with the real thang, he SCARED. The best supposed to compete w/ the best. These niggas just TALK like they like dat SHUUUUT UP.” It’s unclear who the Charlotte native was directing that message to, but it’s no denying that he has had a hell of a musical run since 2019.
Back in April, the six-time Grammy-nominated rapper added 27 new RIAA certifications to his lineup. His hit single “Rockstar” went 5x platinum while “Suge” went 4x platinum. He also earned 14 new gold plaques for “Find My Way,” “Walking Texas Ranger, “Nasty” and “Blind.”
“Bop” went triple platinum and “Vibez” and “Toes” both went double platinum. “Intro,” “Going Baby,” and the Offset-assisted single “Baby Sitter” were also certified platinum.
In March, DaBaby described his reaction to being nominated for four categories — Record Of The Year, Best Melodic Rap Performance, Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance — at the 2021 Grammy Awards.
“It definitely felt twice [as] impactful as last year,” he said. “I made a bold statement when I was nominated for them last year. I said, ‘I’m going to be at the Grammys and will be nominated every year of my career as a mainstream artist.’”
“It’s definitely a repayment for the work that I put in over the past year,” he continued, adding that the pandemic has been a presence in our lives.
