DJ Khaled’s most recent project recently debuted at number one on the Billboard charts, and he’s not taking the accomplishment lightly. On Sunday (May 9), the We The Best producer took to social media to celebrate the success of Khaled Khaled, his third No. 1 album on the Billboard Hot 200.
According to MRC Data, Khaled Khaled — which dropped on April 30 — earned 93,000 equivalent album units in the week ending May 6 and now precedes all songs on the chart, including Moneybagg Yo’s A Gangsta’s Pain, Morgan Wallen’s Dangerous, The Double album, Justice by Justin Bieber’, the Slime Language 2 project by Young Thug and Rod Wave’s SoulFly.
“I cried many nights. Tears of JOY and Pain making this album,” Khaled tweeted alongside a video of him shedding tears to “Just Be,” his song featuring Justin Timberlake. “Everyone’s beautiful words, texts, messages really touched my heart. God is Great! THANK YOU! THE LIGHT. #KHALEDKHALED #1 album in the country.”
The video of his vulnerable moment, he added, was filmed so that his fans can “see the real.”
The blood, sweat and tears poured into Khaled’s album, which features artists like Megan Thee Stallion, Cardi B and Da Baby, is evident through his many visuals. In the days since the project’s release date which saw the music video for JAY-Z and Nas collaboration, “Sorry Not Sorry,” he dropped more visuals.
“WHERE YOU COME FROM” featuring Buju Banton, Capleton and Bounty Hunter, the Migos and H.E.R.-assisted “WE GOING CRAZY,” “EVERY CHANCE I GET” and “THANKFUL,” the song featuring Jeremih and Lil Wayne, are all available on YouTube for fans to watch.
Despite Khaled’s expression of gratitude for his No. 1 album, he’s no stranger to being on top. Consecutive albums Major Key and Grateful, which came out in 2016 and 2017 respectively, also hit the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 following their release dates.
