This past weekend, DJ Khaled returned to the fold with his twelfth studio LP KHALED KHALED, a 14-track body of work that sees plenty of hip hop, R&B, and reggae’s legends and current frontrunners — Lil Baby, Lil Durk, Cardi B, JAY-Z, Nas, Drake, Rick Ross, Diddy, Buju Banton, Bounty Killer, Bryson Tiller, H.E.R., and Migos are among the many features. Following visuals for “POPSTAR,” “SORRY NOT SORRY,” and “WHERE YOU COME FROM,” Khaled keeps the momentum going with a fresh clip for “THANKFUL,” which sees assists from Lil Wayne and Jeremih. Co-produced by NOVA WAV and taking notes from a certain Hov classic, “THANKFUL” sees the artists showing appreciation for their well-deserved success:
“And I know that somebody been praying for me, head above ground and I could’ve been six feet deep, out on these streets, when I get down on my knees, I’m thankful, I’m thankful, I’ma blow this bag for everybody who counted me out, and I still got love for all my dawgs who holding me down, head above ground for my niggas and my dons, I’m thankful, I’m thankful…/”
Directed by Gil Green, the video shows Khaled, Jeremih, and Weezy in heavenly, tranquil locations, including in what looks like the literal Garden of Eden with a supporting choir in tow. All the while, viewers can also see younger versions of the stars during more troubled times — at one point, Khaled even provides advise to his counterpart during an emotionally charged moment with a mirror.
Following its release, KHALED KHALED also received some positive projections in regards to sales. As previously reported by REVOLT, the album is expected to move somewhere between 80,000 and 100,000 album equivalent units — a range of figures that should allow Khaled to rest comfortably atop the Billboard 200 at the end of the week.
