Amid a celebratory moment for Bobby Shmurda, Quavo gave Rowdy Rebel a few wads of cash in honor of his own prison release.
On Monday night (Feb 22), the two emcees met up for dinner ahead of Shmurda’s highly-awaited release. In their first encounter since Rebel became a free man, the Migos star blessed the “Computers” rapper with over $20,000 in cash, per Hip Hop DX. Footage of the generous exchange has since circulated the internet.
As seen in the video, Quavo handed the stacks of cash, which he called a “lil’ care pack for the gang,” to Rebel. “You know I love you, bro,” he said, to which the GS9 star responded, “Stop playin.’ This goin’ straight to the bank.”
Following the reunion, the “Flip the Switch” emcee took to Twitter to express his excitement about seeing Rebel. “My first time seeing my dog Rowdy Rebel tonight!!!” he tweeted. “They freed the guys.”
Rebel was arrested alongside Shmurda in 2014 on gun, drug and gang conspiracy charges. He completed his prison bid and was released from custody back in December; he’s been counting down the days of the “Bobby Bitch” star ever since.
In one particular post, he thanked Shmurda for the major role he played in his success. “I wouldn’t be here RN if y[o]u haven’t been the same genuine person I met in elementary…,” he wrote in a now-deleted post. “I never seen y[o]u fold or bend through treacherous times. Always thinking [a]nd doing for others. I thank God I got a friend like you I could call a brother. I love y[o]u like y[o]u my mama kids ….see y[o]u soon kid.”
On Tuesday (Feb. 23), Shmurda was finally let out of New York’s Clinton Correctional Facility. Quavo picked him up in a private jet and shouted him out for staying solid in the midst of some very dark times. “Did six and didn’t switch. Welcome home @realbobbyshmurdags9,” he penned the caption of a video of Shmurda exiting the jet.
