All good things must come to an end, including JAY-Z’s run on Instagram. Shortly after joining the social media platform, the rapper deactivated his account. He amassed more than two million followers before his sudden departure.

Hov’s surprising entry to Instagram was announced on Nov. 2 and was seemingly intended to promote his Netflix film “The Harder They Fall.” At the time, he counted down the release of the movie in his story, while posting promotional on his actual page. Beyoncé, who was his one and follower, shared the countdown on her story as well.

While fans may be disappointed about JAY-Z’s Instagram exit, this is reportedly his second time joining and quitting the platform within a matter of hours.

As the New York Daily News reported in 2015, the Brooklyn entrepreneur created an account to post a birthday tribute to Michael Jackson. “Happy Birthday to the King!” he captioned a throwback photo of him and the “Thriller” star. “This may be my first and last post.” Music executive and friend of the Reasonable Doubt emcee, Michael Kyser pushed the unverified @Hovsince96 account, which was deleted 14 hours later.

Hov’s Instagram account may be nonexistent, but his social media presence isn’t. The “Imaginary Players” star still has a Twitter account, which he sporadically uses from time to time.

This past weekend, for example, after highlighting some people in his Rock & Roll Hall of Fame speech, he hopped on his account to acknowledge a few more people. “Thank you to everyone in that video package, I’m definitely gonna cry in the car,” tweeted Hov. “In my excitement, I failed to prize and acknowledge JAZ-O. He was the hometown hero that made the dream tangible. Thank you, good man,” he added before hinting he will step away from Twitter again. “Ok. Let me lose this password for another year or so.”
