After years of making records with Kanye West, Big Sean admits that Ye isn’t the easiest person to work with. While visiting the “Million Dollaz Worth of Game” podcast to promote his What You Expect EP with Hit-Boy, he ended up discussing the sometimes difficult process of collaborating with the Chicago star.

“Kanye can be very hard to work with,” Big Sean explained. “Kanye will have you re-do a verse 10 times and not use them.” Hit-Boy then chimed in on the conversation, adding, “[Kanye will have you] redo some drums 10 times.”

Striving to meet Ye’s expectations, however, doesn’t always guarantee a feature on one of his projects.

According to Sean, after being removed from several tracks with no advance notice, he only celebrates his appearance on a Kanye song after it actually drops. Fortunately, one of those released tracks was “Clique,” which included a “crazy” verse Sean recorded on the spur of the moment.

“With ‘Clique,’ I did that verse on the fly so there’s like eight other verses on there,” said the “Blessings” emcee. “After him and Hov met up, they cut everybody but they was like, ‘Leave Sean on there, he went too crazy with the hook.’”

Sean and Hit-Boy’s interview aired in the wake of Ye’s “Drink Champs” interview, which saw the College Dropout star reveal that he doesn’t “rock” with the Detroit native and thinks signing him was the “worst” decision he’s made career-wise.

Sean later clarified that his interview was recorded before Ye sat down with N.O.R.E. and DJ EFN. “Did this ‘Million Dollars Worth a Game’ interview bout a month ago,” he wrote in a now-deleted tweet. “A lot of people looking at it as a response to Ye’s ‘Drink Champs’ and it’s not. I filmed it before that. Love.”
