Beanie Sigel isn’t looking to cash in for coming up with Ye’s nickname Yeezy. In a new interview with TMZ, Beans confirmed to the outlet that he did call the former Roc-A-Fella Records producer/artist Yeezy at one point, however, he says Ye doesn’t owe him “nothing but love.”

It was Ye who initially revealed during his “Drink Champs” interview with N.O.R.E. and DJ EFN that Beanie came up with the moniker. “I still owe Beanie money and I’ve been trying to give him his money for a minute,” Ye said. “He used to call me Yeezy, this is the thing — people that took a liking to me in volatile situations would always give me a nickname, so it seemed like I was cool like them… That was Beanie’s name for me when I was in Baseline [Studios]. Like on some, no that’s Yeezy, make him one of us… he really embraced me.”

Beanie humbly told TMZ that it was Ye who “took the name and ran with it.” “As far as his business mind and where he took it, Kanye work hard for his. Kanye don’t owe me nothing,” the State Property rapper said. Instead of a one-time check, Beanie said he is open to doing business with Ye. “I’m not even thinking about a [monetary] number,” he said. “But I would love to do some business where I can earn some money, ‘cause I’m an earner. I never was the type to take just for a handout.”

The “Feel it in the Air” rapper went on to say that his relationship with Yeezy isn’t worth a specific dollar amount and everything that he’s done for his former label mate, he would do it again. The only proposition Beanie mentioned involved sitting down with the Donda creator to discuss a business venture.

“Let’s get to some money, let’s get to some music, let’s get to some fashion, some movies,” Beanie suggested. “We can do all of that and the rest will fall in place.”
