Big Sean fans get ready for some new music. Taking to Twitter on Thursday (Oct. 28), the Detroit native announced he has a new Hit-Boy-produced EP on deck called What You Expect. Even more exciting, the project arrives at midnight (Oct. 29).
“I was bout to drop a new song tonight, but then I thought… nah, instead I’m a drop [five] new songs tonight!” Sean, who released his single “What A Life” last week, tweeted on Thursday.
The “Beware” spitter also shared a trailer for the joint project on YouTube. The clip features archived footage of Sean and Hit-Boy and emphasizes the pair’s history of collaborations and friendship dating all the way back to 2010.
According to HipHop-N-More, What You Expect will offer six tracks, including “What A Life,” and features from 42 Dugg, Bryson Tiller, Lil Durk and Babyface Ray. The EP will mark Sean’s first project since his 2020 LP, Detroit 2.
The 33-year-old has been on a roll lately, most recently wowing fans with his L.A. Leakers freestyle. On Twitter, Sean revealed the freestyle even earned praise from Nas, who texted him after his show appearance.
“Nas just txt me saying ‘You murdered these freestyles thanks for pushing us all,’” Sean wrote on Twitter. “That’s crazy AF to me when I really thought about Nas txt’n me that, I’m at the crib right now in Detroit n I’m just feeling grateful I actually am doing what I said I would. Shit feel like a dream.”
The “Wolves” rapper also said he was “tired of [his music] being judged” by critics and pledged to “get back to having fun.”
“… ‘Cause trying to please everybody ain’t it!” he wrote. “If you rock wit me, you rock wit me n if you don’t then… you just don’t have good taste.”
