Big Sean recently paid a visit to Power 106’s L.A. Leakers and proceeded to bring his A-game, because when you’re in that seat, you know you have to deliver. The new freestyle arrives on the heels of his recent feature on Babyface Ray’s “Ain’t My Fault” alongside Hit-Boy. On the mic, he let his honest thoughts fly with expertise:

Look, I was with Kobe last January 1st trapped inside a year that just can’t get no worse/ Present traumatic stress got me damaged and hurt I’ve been in the gym tryna lift off a curse/ That’s been on me since my family tree was planted on earth/

So my seeds gonna have a new advantage at birth I stopped hoping for the best now I’m demanding it work/ I handle my dirt if good karma don’t land on it first relentless how I give it all but never give in/ Just like NBA players in my girls DMs steady shooting shots that never go in

The Power 106 team made sure to express a few words of the incredible energy in the room that day. “This one was incredibly special to film,” read the YouTube comment. “Witnessing Big Sean skate over 4 different beats was amazing. Sean has perfected his craft. It’s a pleasure having a front row seat to these moments.”

Last year was a great one for Big Sean as well — September brought forth Sean’s fifth studio album Detroit 2, the sequel to 2012’s Detroit that boasted 21 cuts with a wealth of features from Nipsey Hussle, Post Malone, Ty Dolla $ign, Jhené Aiko, Anderson .Paak, Wale, Young Thug, Travis Scott, Lil Wayne, and a collective of fellow Detroit peers, among many others. Detroit 2 was Sean’s third number-one album thanks to 103,000 first-week album equivalent units. More recently, he celebrated past successes with the 10th anniversary deluxe edition of his debut LP Finally Famous, along with an unreleased reflection on his 2010 inclusion into XXL’s Freshman class.
