Snoop Dogg is giving JAY-Z his props for tapping him to become a part of the all-star lineup for the forthcoming Super Bowl Halftime Show.
During an appearance on “The Breakfast Club,” the “Gin and Juice” emcee thanked Jigga for helping him become a component of the performance, which will also include Kendrick Lamar, Eminem, Mary J. Blige and Dr. Dre. “Shoutout to JAY-Z for umm, going to war and making that thang happen — puttin’ the first hip hop act on the stage. You know, people don’t give him credit for a lot of things that he do,” he said.
Snoop added, “He moves his hands mysteriously behind the scenes and he does a lot of great things for people. And I wanna give him a shoutout for fighting for Dr. Dre because I know that, that’s a part of my legacy that he fought for.”
Elsewhere in the interview, the “Drop It Like It’s Hot” rapper revealed that he and Em squashed their beef after he apologized to the Detroit rapper.
“Man I love Eminem. And the thing is, we love hip hop so much, we competitive,” Snoop said. “We battle rappers, so that was supposed to trigger that in him. But we brothers, and we family, so we learn to appreciate each other for what we do, and we get down and we had a long conversation about the respect that we have for each other and the way we need to talk in public about each other.”
“And I felt like I was out of pocket,” the Long Beach native added. “I apologized to him, and I let him know and I’m just bettering myself. I make mistakes. I ain’t perfect, I’m Snoop Dogg.”
The highly anticipated hip hop and R&B performance is slated to go down during the Super Bowl LVI Halftime Show. The acts will collectively take the field at the SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, becoming the first time the artists will hit the stage together.
