Five suspects have reportedly been charged for the 2020 slaying of Chicago rapper FBG Duck.
According to WGN 9, the five men — Charles Liggins, Kenneth Roberson, Tacarlos Offerd, Christopher Thomas and Marcus Smart — are members of the “O-Block side of the Gangster Disciples, which claim territory in and around the Parkway Gardens affordable housing complex in the 6400 block of South King Drive.”
Prosecutors say that the suspects, “for the purpose of maintaining and increasing position in O-Block, an enterprise engaged in racketeering activity, did knowingly commit the murder of Carlton Weekly, a/k/a ‘FBG Duck.’”
As REVOLT previously reported, FBG Duck, whose real name is Carlton Weekly, was shot and killed on Aug. 4, 2020. Two other people were wounded during the shooting, which took place in broad daylight outside a popular Chicago shopping district.
A witness said that they saw two men standing outside of a store before they heard gunshots ring out. The onlooker also stated that they saw one of the men going down Michigan Avenue, followed by more gunshots — four to five minutes later.
On Wednesday (Oct. 13), Lasheena Weekly, Duck’s mother, took to Instagram to share the news about the arrests.
“[The feds] just called me and told me they arrested Muwop, they arrested C-Thang, they arrested…two more, five people that they have in custody,” she said in the video. “The lil boy who killed himself August the 24, was one of the shooters that shot my son — they just told me that, too. … You heard it from me first. They got they ass. They got them muthafuckas.”
Duck was an up-and-coming emcee who was gaining popularity before he died. His 2018 single “Slide” has garnered over 65 million views on YouTube.
The five defendants are scheduled to appear in federal court on Wednesday. Check out Weekly’s video below.
