Multiple outlets are claiming that Chicago rapper FBG Duck has reportedly passed away at the age of 26 as a result of a drive-by shooting in his city on Tuesday (Aug. 4).
Ja’Mal Green, a former Chicago mayoral candidate, even tweeted about the shocking news. “Popular rapper FBG Duck has just been pronounced dead after being shot in the Gold Coast an hour ago. Prayers up for his family, bring justice to them after this senseless act,” he posted on his Twitter account. “It hurts to watch Chicago’s young people watch not only their friends but their favorite rappers die from senseless gun violence. We really have to get our city together if we want to have a better future. Rest In Peace FBG Duck.”

After this news broke on social media, Chicago Deputy Chief Daniel O’Shea confirmed that Duck, born Carlton Weekly, died at 4:30 p.m. local time. The rapper supposedly had shooting injuries to his chest, groin and neck before he was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital.

According to Chicago’s WGN 9 news outlet, two other people were shot during the incident: A second man and one woman. They are now both in serious condition.
A witness added that they saw two men standing outside of a store at around 4:20 p.m. local time. They weren’t arguing, but after a certain point, they heard gunshots ring out. The bystander continued that they saw one of the men going down Michigan Avenue, and then heard more gunshots about four to five minutes later.
FBG Duck was an up-and-coming recording artist who was gaining notoriety. He was largely known for his 2018 single “Slide,” which garnered over 53,000,000 views on YouTube — and counting.
