Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion fans are about to be treated to new music. The two rappers announced their first-ever collaboration this week — titled “Wap” — which is expected to be released on Friday (Aug. 7).
“Single droppin this Friday! WAP feat. [Megan Thee Stallion],” Cardi captioned the song’s cover art on Instagram.
“Wap” will mark the Bronx-bred star’s first original release this year, following her appearance on Anuel AA’s “La Bebe (Remix).” Cardi dropped her debut album Invasion of Privacy back in 2018 and has since released a few one-off singles, including “Press” and “Please Me” — her collaboration with Bruno Mars.
“I can never put a date on it because, like, when you feel like you’ve got those songs, that’s when it’s gonna come out,” Cardi said of her highly anticipated sophomore album during an interview with Baller Alert. “I cannot put a date on my ears, you know what I’m saying? When I feel like I have it, that’s when [it’ll come out].”
She’s reportedly already recorded the effort’s “cool, calm and collected songs” and is now just missing a “couple more club hits.”
Megan, on the other hand, released her Suga EP earlier this year, which housed her smash hit “Savage.” The track was later remixed by Beyonce and followed by Megan’s latest release, “Girls in the Hood.”
DJ Khaled has also recently teased an upcoming collaboration with the Houston Hottie, while she recovers from multiple gunshot wounds. Megan previously revealed that she was shot in both feet during an incident in the Hollywood Hills last month.
“…The police drove me to the hospital where I underwent surgery to remove the bullets. I’m incredibly grateful to be alive and that I’m expected to make a full recovery, but it was important for me to clarity the details about this traumatic night,” she wrote on Instagram. “I’m currently focused on my recovery, so I can return back to my life and back to making music as soon as possible.”
