Cardi B is cooking up some new heat in quarantine. The “I Like It” rapper hopped on Instagram Live on Saturday (May 23) to tease that her first single of 2020 is arriving “real soon.”
“My single is coming very, very soon, okay guys,” she revealed, before joking, “My single is coming when I lose weight: Never!”
“Nah, it’s coming real soon, I swear,” she continued. “And y’all gon’ love it.”
The news arrives after Cardi explained that her single had been delayed due to the ongoing pandemic.
“It’s delay due to the virus,” she told a fan back in March.
However, COVID-19 did give way to her viral “Coronavirus (Remix)” track, which used her panicked rant about the virus over an instrumental.
The Bronx rapper also teased her Twitter followers on April 1, announcing that the single was on the way. However, she later revoked the tweet, saying it was an April Fool’s joke.
Cardi’s upcoming single could be the first offering from her Invasion of Privacy follow-up. She’s given a few details about her sophomore album, adding that the project was just missing a few more “club hits.”
“I have my cool, calm and collected songs, just missing a couple more club hits,” the Grammy winner told Baller Alert back in February. “But we’re getting there.”
“I can never put a [release] date on it because, like, when you feel like you’ve got those songs, that’s when it’s gonna come out,” she continued. “I cannot put a date on my ears, you know what I’m saying? When I feel like I have it, that’s when [it’ll come out].”
Despite not releasing a new solo single yet this year, Cardi did share a snippet of her unreleased song about her daughter Kulture on Mother’s Day (May 10). The single samples Eve’s 1999 hit “Love Is Blind” and was recorded during Cardi’s Invasion of Privacy sessions, but was not included on the album.
