Eminem will host a three-hour special radio show — dubbed “Music To Be Quarantined By” — on his Shade 45 Sirius XM radio station today (May 2). The set will include songs that the MC has been listening to while self-isolating at home.
“It’s what I wanna hear, basically,” Em revealed to Sway Calloway on Thursday (April 29).
“And recommend people to listen to as well,” his longtime manager Paul Rosenberg added.
According to SiriusXM, the playlist will include hits by Tupac, Beastie Boys, MC Lyte, Mobb Deep, Nas, The Notorious B.I.G., Run-DMC, Wu-Tang Clan and more.
Recently, Em also wrapped up his “Love Your DJ” competition, which gave Michigan-based DJs a chance to be featured on Shade 45 and receive a cash prize.
“Love Your DJ, presented by Eminem and The Marshall Mathers Foundation, will offer DJs from Michigan the opportunity to submit their best custom mixes via a Soundcloud link at siriusxm.com/LoveYourDJ for the chance to have their mix air on Shade45 on SiriusXM, as well as receive a $313 cash payment — an homage to the Detroit area code,” a statement about the competition read.
Fifteen participants out of the first 500 entries were chosen by a panel of Shady Records judges. Those lucky winners will have their best mixes played on the station during a special “Love Your DJ Mixshow Takeover,” which is also set to air today (May 2).
Besides his Shade 45 work, Em has also used social distancing to give back. Earlier this week, the “Godzilla” rapper donated a pair of Air Jordan Retro 4s to raise money for the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund.
Em also previously donated “Mom’s Spaghetti” meals to the staff at Henry Ford Hospital in his hometown.
Tune in to Em’s Shade 45 to hear his “Music To Be Quarantined By” playlist today (May 2) beginning at 12 pm EST. A subscription to his Sirius XM station is also currently free, as Em announced he’d be waiving all fees amidst the pandemic.
