Eminem and his Marshall Mathers Foundation have announced the “Love Your DJ” competition in an effort to spotlight Michigan DJs. According to a press statement, winners will receive airplay on the Detroit native’s Shade 45 SiriusXM radio station, as well as a cash prize.
“Love Your DJ, presented by Eminem and The Marshall Mathers Foundation, will offer DJs from Michigan the opportunity to submit their best custom mixes via a Soundcloud link at siriusxm.com/LoveYourDJ for the chance to have their mix air on Shade45 on SiriusXM, as well as receive a $313 cash payment – an homage to the Detroit area code,” the statement reads.
In order to qualify, Michigan DJs simply need to submit their Soundcloud mixes via the SiriusXM link. The first 500 qualified applicants will be rewarded with a cash prize, while a selected 15 will have their music played on the radio station.
“Of the first 500 entrants, 15 grand prize winners will be selected by a panel of judges from Shady Records to receive a chance for their mix to air on Shade45 as a part of the Love Your DJ Mixshow Takeover beginning May 2,” the statement explained. “Mixes will be judged on sound quality, originality, and texture of the entry, as it fits within the sound of Shade45 programming on SiriusXM.”
More rules and eligibility requirements can be found on the SiriusXM website. DJs have until Wednesday (April 29) at 12 pm EST to submit their mixes. Selected music will be aired during the “Love Your DJ Mixshow Takeover,” which begins on the station May 2. Also launching that day will be the “Music To Be Quarantined By” radio segment, where Eminem will play his favorite hip hop joints.
“Hometown DJ’s! [Shade 45] and me linked up for #LoveYourDJ – first 500 get $313,” Em wrote on Instagram on Friday (April 24). See his full announcement below.
