Pandemic-related social distancing efforts have put a damper on music industry events, touring, video shoots and more. In wake of the Coronavirus, Lil Baby has announced he’ll be postponing his upcoming Lamborghini Boys mixtape until the general public is no longer holed up in self-quarantine.
“Ima hold up on Lamborghini Boys Until We Bacc Outside!” the Atlanta rapper tweeted on Monday (April 6).
Baby has been teasing the mixtape since December. Last month, while previewing some unreleased music on the ‘Gram, he gave Lamborghini Boys a May release date.
“I’m gonna drop a mixtape in 60 days, Lamborghini Boys,” he said on Instagram Live. “ All the rap ni**as who got Lamborghinis [get] features… Lamborghini Boys mixtape.”
Although the project has now been delayed, Baby fans may be seeing a My Turn (Deluxe) in the near future. Taking to both his Twitter and Instagram accounts on Monday (April 6), the rapper hinted at a forthcoming deluxe version.
“Deluxe Otw!!” he tweeted, also writing “3am Shooting Videos! Deluxe Otw!!” on Instagram.
Baby’s My Turn arrived back in February. The album became his first Billboard 200 No. 1 debut, selling 197,000 equivalent album units within its first week. My Turn also marked Baby’s fifth charting record in total and became his fourth to rank within the Billboard 200’s Top 10.
The album’s streaming success also marked 2020’s first record-setting streaming week and reached numbers that had remained untouched since Post Malone’s Hollywood’s Bleeding. Over a month after its release, My Turn currently sits at No. 6 on the Billboard 200.
“Numbers ain’t really that important,” Baby told Billboard before My Turn’s release. “They are when you go No. 1… but, for the most part, [I] don’t try to think about the numbers. Just try to go as hard as you can go.”
Last month, Baby teamed up with 42 Dugg for their “Grace” video. Revisit the My Turn clip below.
