Fresh off the heels of his My Turn sophomore album, Lil Baby already has another project in store. While previewing some unreleased music during an Instagram Live session on Wednesday (March 18), the Atlanta-bred rapper announced that his Lamborghini Boys mixtape is well on its way.
“I got to sell this sh*t,” Lil Baby said of his previewed song. “I’m gonna drop a mixtape in 60 days, Lamborghini Boys. All the rap ni**as who got Lamborghinis [get] features… Lamborghini Boys mixtape.”
Lil Baby first began teasing this project last year. Back in December, he sent out a cryptic tweet that announced the Lamborghini Boys mixtape title, before launching the rollout for his My Turn album. If he stays true to his word, Lamborghini Boys could arrive as early as May.
My Turn album clenched Lil Baby his first Billboard 200 No. 1 debut, selling 197,000 equivalent album units within its first week. My Turn also marked his fifth charting record and his fourth to make it within the Billboard 200 Top 10. Furthermore, My Turn amassed the largest streaming week for any album in 2020, hitting numbers that haven’t been reached since Post Malone’s 2019 album, Hollywood’s Bleeding.
To celebrate the album’s release, Lil Baby returned to his hometown to hand out free CD copies. The following week, he launched the My Turn Scholarship fund at his old high school and donated $150,000, in partnership with Amazon Music’s Rap Rotation, Quality Control Music, Wolfpack Global and Motown Records.
“Numbers ain’t really that important,” he previously told Billboard about the record. “They are when you go No. 1… but, for the most part, [I] don’t try to think about the numbers. Just try to go as hard as you can go.”
