Fred The Godson has sadly lost his battle with COVID-19.
His friend and longtime collaborator Jaquae shared the news on Instagram. “Sleep in peace my brother,” he captioned the photo of Fred. “You’ll never be forgotten. LOVE U MAN. I have so much things to say but I’m lost right now.”
The Payback rapper had been fighting for his life after testing positive for Coronavirus earlier this month. Despite suffering from breathing complications, his wife LeeAnn Jemmott told XXL that his health had improved.
“Fred is currently in the ICU. He is COVID-19 positive on a ventilator,” she said. “However, he is progressing! He went in having difficulty breathing on Monday evening (April 6). Tuesday morning (April 7), I received a call he was not going to make it because his lungs were not working.”
“He was then put on a ventilator, and as of today (April 9), the doctors already weaned him down from 100 percent support to 40 percent support of ventilation,” she continued. “He is fighting and he is winning. He has no sign of infection. His heart is strong and working well. His kidneys have been affected, but as of today, he has started dialysis to clean the toxins out of his blood. Fred is going to make it. God is good!”
This week, Fred’s publicist said that he was still in the intensive care unit and revealed that his kidneys were not working. He also said that the “Nokia” rapper’s heart and vitals signs showed improvement. His fever had also dropped after peaking at 105 degrees.
Fred had a higher vulnerability for COVID-19 because he had asthma. Before his diagnosis, he would frequently post photos of himself doing a breathing treatment.
The REVOLT team would like to send our prayers and thoughts to the family and friends of Fred The Godson. RIP.
