Fred The Godson has been reportedly fighting for his life after testing positive for Coronavirus on Monday (April 6). However, despite suffering through complications and breathing difficulties earlier in the week, Fred’s wife now tells XXL that his condition has improved.
“Fred is currently in the ICU. He is COVID-19 positive on a ventilator,” LeeAnn Jemmott, who shares two young daughters with the rapper, told XXL on Thursday (April 9). “However, he is progressing! He went in having difficulty breathing on Monday evening (April 6). Tuesday morning (April 7), I received a call he was not going to make it because his lungs were not working.”
“He was then put on a ventilator, and as of today (April 9), the doctors already weaned him down from 100 percent support to 40 percent support of ventilation,” she continued. “He is fighting and he is winning. He has no sign of infection. His heart is strong and working well. His kidneys have been affected, but as of today, he has started dialysis to clean the toxins out of his blood. Fred is going to make it. God is good!”
The good news arrives after Jemmott had previously feared for the worst. On Wednesday (April 8), she told Bronx’s News 12 that Fred’s health had quickly declined due to the virus.
“It was just like — he’s gone and he’s gonna die, that’s it,” she told the outlet. “I don’t even know how I felt, I just felt like I was going to die.”
Thankfully, the Payback rapper’s health began to improve later in the week with help from a ventilator.
“We need him like he is our strength, he is our good vibes, our positivity,” she continued.
Several in the hip hop community have been diagnosed with Coronavirus. In the past few weeks, Scarface, Slim Thug, YNW Melly and other rappers have reported testing positive for the novel disease.
