Slim Thug is celebrating a clean bill of health after battling Coronavirus for weeks. On Monday (April 20), the Thug Life rapper shared a screenshot of his newly negative test results on Instagram, along with a few “100” and prayer hands emojis.
Slim Thug first revealed his positive Coronavirus diagnosis last month, along with a warning.
“Y’all gotta take this stuff serious. Sit home, self-quarantine, do not come outside for however long they saying,” he’d said on Instagram at the time. “If you have symptoms, you need to go get checked out or whatever… But y’all better take it serious, it’s real out here.”
Later in the week, the Houston native spoke with Vibe about his symptoms.
“I started to feel a headache and a fever and I’ve never had those symptoms so I thought, ‘Man this Corona time, it’s got to be something,” he told the outlet, adding that he’d also experienced a slight cough.
“It’s real and people should take it seriously,” he continued. “Especially for young people. You could pass it on, it could be deadly to somebody you love. You have to be a human and say, ‘I have to protect others by not being reckless.’”
Thankfully, Thug joins a few other rappers who are now rid of the Coronavirus, including Westside Gunn. However, there are still artists like YNW Melly, Fred The Godson and more who continue to battle the virus.
Since being diagnosed with COVID-19, Slim Thug has also given back to his local essential workers. The rapper donated hand sanitizer to Houston’s police department and bus drivers, in an effort to help curb the spread of Coronavirus in his city.
“I want our police officers and bus drivers to know that we appreciate their service during this tough time,” he told local news channel KTRK at the time. “They have always been a huge part of keeping Houston going.”
