Slim Thug is doing his part to help combat the spread of Coronavirus in his hometown of Houston.
According to KTRK, the “Still Tippin’” rapper has teamed up with his relief team, Smoke Shield, to donate 1,000 bottles of hand sanitizer to the METRO police department and METRO bus drivers.
“I want our police officers and bus drivers to know that we appreciate their service during this tough time,” he said. “They have always been a huge part of keeping Houston going.”
Last month, Thug revealed that he had tested positive for Coronavirus.
“So check this out. No games being played aight?” he said in a video posted to Instagram. “The other day I got tested for the Coronavirus and it came back positive. As careful as I’ve been self quarantining, staying home–I might have did… Went got something to eat or something or did some stuff like that. Simple stuff like that, nothing crazy. Stayed in my truck had mask, gloves, everything on and my test came back positive.”
Since his diagnosis, Thug talked to Vibe about how he has been coping with the illness.
“I was definitely surprised because I was trying to be precautious way earlier than a lot of people,” he said about his positive diagnosis. “I started to feel a headache and a fever and I’ve never had those symptoms so I thought, ‘Man this Corona time, it’s got to be something.’”
Thug says he has felt mostly asymptomatic, besides having a headache, slight fever and cough. The THUG LIFE rapper urged everyone to self-quarantine and practice social distancing as much as they can.
“It’s serious and it can be deadly, but at the end of the day, if you’re young and healthy and don’t have any other underlying conditions, then you should be able to fight it off,” he said. “My doctor shared how the only thing you can do is stay home and let it run its course. He said to drink a high volume of fluids like vitamin C to keep your immune system up.”
Shoutout to Slim Thug for looking out for the essential workers in his community during these tough times.
