Weeks after a posthumous Pop Smoke album was teased, a documentary about the late Brooklyn rapper is also reportedly in the works. While speaking with Complex, Pop’s former manager Steven Victor confirmed he’s developing both.

“I’m working really, really hard on this Pop Smoke album,” he told the outlet. “And I’m working on a documentary for him, too. And his foundation.”

The forthcoming documentary was a project Pop had envisioned long before his passing. According to Complex, he had aimed to create a biopic that examined his feelings of being targeted by New York City law enforcement because of his music.

“I’m gonna put out a movie or a documentary. I’m gonna make that shit about me,” he said, two weeks before his death. “Walk ‘em through where I used to live, where I used to be at, and why they look at me the way they look. I’m gonna show you why they don’t like that—what they don’t like. Let’s see if you have the same feedback that they have. Let’s see if you would want me to be banned and want me to not perform. I doubt you will. All this good music being recorded, and you want to put it on hold? You don’t want people to hear it?”

Pop’s posthumous album was announced last month by 50 Cent, who is acting as executive producer on the project.

“I’m on the move listening to Pop smoke, i decided i’m gonna executive produce and finish his album for him,” 50 previously said on Instagram.

After giving the record a tentative May release, 50 offered feature spots on the project to Post Malone, Roddy Ricch, Drake and more.

Pop previously released his 2019 Meet the Woo and 2020 Meet the Woo 2 mixtapes. His forthcoming album will mark his first full-length posthumous project.
