According to his latest Instagram post, 50 Cent is readying Pop Smoke’s posthumous album for a May release. The rap veteran announced this weekend that he has taken on the role of executive producer for the project.

“Set for release in May,” 50 captioned a photo of himself and Pop labeled “Posthumous album.”

Along with executive producing, 50 has also been recruiting multiple artists for potential features on the record. Earlier this week, he hit up Roddy Ricch, Drake and Chris Brown as possible collaborators. In his Instagram post on Tuesday (March 3), the Queens native was looking to contact another artist — Post Malone.

“Oh yeah [Post Malone] i’m gonna hit ya phone, i need you on this,” 50 wrote, adding in a comment under the post, “Trust my judgement i know what i’m doing.”

So far, Post, Drake and Brown haven’t confirmed whether or not they’ll be on the project. However, Ricch responded to the call earlier this week, commenting “Say less” on 50’s Instagram post. It appears Snoop Dogg wants in on the album, too, as he commented, “I’m waiting on the call cuz.”

In another post, 50 explained his approach as executive producer on the record.

“I’m looking at everything through a different lens,” he wrote. “Everybody i call ain’t coming but i’m doing what i have to do to make it hot. i don’t like a lot of you weak ass n!**as but i likes pop smoke.”

Besides a release date set for May, 50 hasn’t revealed any other details about the record. The forthcoming album will mark Pop’s first posthumous project and serve as a follow-up to his 2019 breakout mixtape Meet the Woo and Meet the Woo 2, which he released just weeks before his tragic death. Authorities are still investigating the Hollywood home invasion, which led to Pop’s murder last month.
