Eminem is ready for Record Store Day this year.
Record Store Day was started in 2007 when a group of independent record store owners and employees decided to celebrate the culture surrounding the stores across the world. The first record store day took place on April. 19, 2008 and the holiday is celebrated in every country except Antarctica.
This day, special vinyl and CD releases are made for that day. This year, Eminem plans to release “exclusive wax” of the singles “My Name Is” and “Bad Guys Always Die.”
He tweeted, “Exclusive wax for @recordstoreday 4/18 – Hi My Name Is / Bad Guys Always Die ft @drdre 7,” he captioned the tweet. “http://recordstoreday.com for details.”
“My Name Is” appeared on Em’s 1999 album, The Slim Shady LP. Dr. Dre’s collab with Em on “Bad Guys Always Die” first appeared on the Wild Wild West soundtrack.
The Slim Shady LP earned Eminem his first Grammy award for Best Rap Solo Performance at the Grammy Awards in 2000.
Em is now taking over with his #GodzillaChallenge. “Fill ‘em with the venom and eliminate ‘em’ [Triller] #GodzillaChallenge is on,” he tweeted. “Who can spit it? Reposting + got prizes for my favorites.”
Although the challenge was open to rookies, some of rap’s veterans decided to take on Em’s tongue twister verse with their own versions.
Bizzy Bone opted to put his spin on the challenge. In a 5-minute Jam TV video, Bizzy took fans into his studio as he played a recording of himself rapping at a super fast pace.
“Shouts to the young homie Eminem, nothing but love,” he said. “You already know. Anybody down with Dr. Dre, down with Ice Cube and part of the whole Mo Thugs family is immediately cousins, brothers and relatives, but we finna take the #GodzillaChallenge. I’ve been getting too many calls. You know me, I love music.”
