Weeks after Pop Smoke was tragically shot and killed in his Hollywood Hills home, his funeral procession was held through the streets of Brooklyn today (Mar. 5).
Pop’s fans flooded the streets of Brooklyn to say their final goodbyes. The funeral procession took place in the Canarsie neighborhood of the borough.
Two horses pulled the carriage and hearse which was decorated with white curtains. His casket could be seen through the glass. Following the hearse, was 50 Cent’s Lamborghini, but 50 was not the driver of the car.
Fans cheered loudly as Pop’s mother got out of her car and waved to the crowd. Fans shouted “Woo” in reference to Pop’s “Meet the Woo” as the casket rode by them.
The ”Dior” rapper’s family held a private funeral last week, according to TMZ. After the procession, he will be laid to rest in a Brooklyn cemetery.
Pop’s friend and mentor 50 Cent has promised to finish his posthumous album. “Set for release in May,” 50 captioned a photo of himself and Pop labeled “Posthumous album.”
This week, 50 has been recruiting multiple artists for potential features on the album. He hit up Roddy Ricch, Drake and Chris Brown as possible collaborators. In his Instagram post on Tuesday (March 3), the “In Da Club” rapper was looking to contact another artist — Post Malone.
“Oh yeah [Post Malone] I’m gonna hit ya phone, I need you on this,” 50 wrote, adding in a comment under the post, “Trust my judgement I know what I’m doing.”
Ricch responded to 50’s call earlier this week, commenting “Say less” under his Instagram post. Snoop Dogg also wants in on the album. He commented, “I’m waiting on the call cuz.”
