A$AP Mob mourns today (Feb. 3) as they have lost another member of their crew. J. Scott, also known as A$AP Snacks, reportedly passed away this weekend.
Scott worked as the official DJ for A$AP Rocky and the Cozy Boys. Beyond being a DJ, producer and creative director behind A$AP projects, he was also the manger for multiple other artists and served as an A&R for A$AP Worldwide.
Back in 2016, Scott explained to Ultraolive that he had gotten connected with the A$AP Mob after moving to New York. He also named the group’s founder A$AP Yams, who died in 2015, as one of the most interesting people he’d ever worked with.
“When I moved to [New York] for good, all my friends up here would just want me to play music at the get togethers or what not because I would always play [them] obscure music from all over,” he said. “Before [A$AP] Rocky started to pop off, [A$AP] Yams and [A$AP] Rocky asked me to DJ for him. I had never really DJed real spots. It was a quick transition for all of us.”
As of Monday (Feb. 3), Scott’s cause of death has not been confirmed.
Tributes for the late producer poured in from the A$AP family and collaborating artists on Sunday through social media (Feb. 2).
“Man words can’t even describe how I feel right now,” A$AP Ferg wrote on Instagram. “Rest In Peace to my brother [J. Scott] This was one of the healthiest guys I knew but I guess God needed him. Gone too young ‘cozy boy’ for life love u bro.”
“IM LOST FOR WORDS, IDK WHAT TO SAY,” A$AP Rocky wrote in his own Instagram post. “RIP BROSAY. A$AP 2 DA DEATH. LOVE U J SNACKS.”
